Short-term (30 to 60-day) SPIs are also D1-equivalent or greater in the areas where D0 expansion occurred. However, some expansion of abnormal dryness (D0) was warranted in parts of southern Vermont and eastern New York, north-central Pennsylvania, and the central Appalachians, due to D1-equivalent (moderate drought) or greater soil moisture estimates (per NASA SPoRT), and below-normal USGS average stream flows. Seasonal to below-normal temperatures were observed across much of the Northeast this week. Given drought is strongly entrenched in the Four Corners, an active Southwest Monsoon circulation will need to persist for conditions to improve. However, this only acted to halt any further degradations this week. Heavy rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon also fell across parts of the Four Corners region. In the Pacific Northwest, below-normal temperatures and recent improvements from an active weather pattern leading up to this week resulted in improvements in some of the long-term drought indicators. Another week of heavy rainfall warranted improvements in Montana. From the Central Plains northward, despite the excessive heat (daytime high temperatures above 100вЏ several days this week), recent improvements driven by an active storm track leading up to this week resulted in modest, more targeted degradations in the drought depiction. Precipitation was lacking in many locations that experienced excessive (in some cases record) heat, leading to widespread expansion of abnormal dryness and moderate drought conditions along the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys, the Southern Plains, and the Southeast. The western third of CONUS, the Northeast, and coastal Mid-Atlantic experienced seasonal to below-normal temperatures. This information was gathered based on a request from a first responder in the field for wind direction or other weather information. Historically weather was received by the dispatch center through a phone call to the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Chanhassen. The location of these weather stations allows for far better coverage of the entire county to determine weather conditions closest to the incident.

These stations provide weather data to support local first responders with information that is easily accessible, accurate and for the location they are nearest to. Anoka County Emergency Management operates small sized weather stations located throughout the county.
